Design is intuitive. Design is practical.
During my studies at the Estonian Academy of Arts, whenever a graphic design student couldn't explain a design decision, we called it "artistic freedom" (kunstnikuvabadus in Estonian).
Explaining a concept to fellow designers is one thing—especially when supported by a visual artifact like a poster or a book. But explaining a design process or intervention in words to colleagues from diverse backgrounds in a competitive, multidisciplinary corporate environment is an entirely different challenge.
