Agree with both points.

I prefer one real and well explained project, that helps to understand the way designer approaches the work, over 4 shiny artificial projects. Nowadays, when, as a hiring designer, I am looking through portfolios, there is a clear pattern of some UX course based designs that all look the same, with perfectly short words and text paragraphs. That doesn’t help at all.

For in-house B2B design, it is ok to have outdated design, if it solves end-user’s needs and brings value to the customer.
